Jamaica Homes operates the independent classified property portal at jamaica-homes.com and is responsible for the personal data we collect and process in connection with your use of the Platform.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Account data: name, email address, phone number and account type.
• Listing data: property details, photos, contact information included in listings.
• Communication data: enquiries, messages and support tickets submitted through the Platform.
• Payment data: billing details processed securely by Stripe (we do not store card numbers).
• Usage data: pages visited, searches performed, device information, IP address.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the Platform and its features.
• To process payments and issue receipts.
• To communicate with you about your account, listings or enquiries.
• To send notification emails and platform alerts where you have opted in.
• Where we suspect fraud or misrepresentation, we may ask an advertiser to confirm their identity, their address, or their connection to a property by uploading a document through their dashboard. We view it, record the outcome, and delete the document immediately afterwards. We do not publish or share it and we display no marking on the advertiser’s profile.
• To moderate listings and enforce our Terms of Use.
• To improve the Platform through analytics and usage data.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following bases:

• Contract: to fulfil our agreement with you when you register or purchase a listing.
• Legitimate interests: to operate and improve the Platform, prevent fraud and ensure user safety.
• Consent: for optional communications such as marketing emails and newsletters.
• Legal obligation: where required to comply with applicable law.

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

Listing content (property details, advertiser contact information) is publicly visible to all users of the Platform by design.

6. Data Retention

Account data is deleted 90 days after deactivation. Payment and invoice records are kept for 7 years. Where a listing has been reported, a copy of the listing as published plus a record of the report and our response is kept for 6 years. A document supplied for an identity confirmation is deleted immediately after review; we retain only the request, submission and decision timestamps, document type, outcome and administrator IDs. Moderation logs are kept indefinitely with identifiers stripped. Where a listing was reported, some data is kept beyond the 90 days. You may request account deactivation through Account Settings.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations).
• Withdraw consent for optional communications at any time via Account Settings.
• Lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority.
