A Homeowners’ Association (HOA) is a group made up of people who live in the same neighborhood or community, usually in a gated area or a planned development. In Jamaica, an HOA helps look after shared spaces like parks, roads, or security areas and makes sure everyone in the neighborhood follows rules to keep the area nice and safe. The HOA might handle things like fixing roads, taking care of gardens, keeping the area clean, and making sure houses look good by setting rules on how they should be kept up. In places like Kingston or Montego Bay, new neighborhoods or upscale communities often have HOAs to keep everything running smoothly. Around the world, especially in countries like the United States, HOAs are common in communities with shared spaces like swimming pools or clubhouses. While some of the rules an HOA sets can be strict, they’re there to help keep the neighborhood looking nice, raise property values, and make sure everyone has a good place to live. If you buy a home in a community with an HOA, you become part of that group, which gives you a chance to help make decisions about how the community is run and kept in good shape.
