Neighbourhood Watch: A community program where neighbors work together to keep their area safe from crime. People in the neighborhood stay alert, watch out for anything suspicious, and report problems to the police. They also support each other, especially those affected by crime, and work together to make their community a safer place for everyone.
There are 10 important ideas, or pillars, that make the program strong:
Awareness – Know what’s going on in your community.
Alertness – Always be ready to notice anything unusual.
Commitment – Stay dedicated to keeping your community safe.
Communication – Talk to each other about what’s happening.
Cooperation – Work together as a team.
Consistency – Always stay active and keep the plan going.
Empowerment – Give people the tools and confidence to take action.
Leadership – Strong leaders guide the group.
Participation – Everyone should get involved.
Unity – Stick together as one community.
There is a Police Officer who works closely with the Neighbourhood Watch group. They help gather information about crime or anything suspicious. Anyone can also report problems to the police.
The program also helps people who have been affected by crime by offering support. Neighbors can give moral support, help with counseling, or assist people going to court as witnesses.
Remember, staying safe is in your hands, and together, we can protect our community!
