Jamaica faces several challenges, but crime and violence—particularly gang-related crime—is widely considered the biggest problem. High levels of homicide, corruption, and organized crime continue to impact economic growth, tourism, and overall safety.
Other major issues include:
Economic Struggles – High debt levels, unemployment, and income inequality.
Education & Healthcare Challenges – Limited resources and access to quality services.
Infrastructure & Energy Costs – Poor road conditions and high electricity prices.
Corruption & Governance Issues – Weak law enforcement and political inefficiencies.
Crime, however, remains the most urgent issue, as it affects nearly every aspect of society. 12 Feb 2024
