Mavis Bank

Mavis Bank is a small rural town nestled in Jamaica’s Blue Mountains, within the parish of St. Andrew. Renowned for its coffee plantations, the area benefits from the ideal combination of high altitude, mineral-rich soil, gentle cloud cover, mountain shade, and ample sunlight. These conditions allow coffee berries to mature slowly, contributing to the rich flavor and aroma characteristic of Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee.

The Mavis Bank Coffee Factory (MBCF), established in 1923, is one of Jamaica’s largest producers of this esteemed coffee. Processing over one million pounds of green beans annually from about 6,000 farmers, MBCF has maintained traditional methods to ensure quality. Each bean is treated with care and patience, preserving the signature character of the coffee.

The factory has also invested in environmental sustainability, implementing waste management systems that convert waste into manure, reducing the environmental impact of its operations.

Visitors to Mavis Bank can experience the rich history and meticulous processes behind Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, gaining insight into why this region is celebrated worldwide for its exceptional coffee production.
