Bull Savanna

Bull Savanna is a settlement in Saint Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica, located at approximately 17.88°N latitude and 77.59°W longitude, with a population of 6,642 residents as of 2012. The town sits at an average elevation of 330 meters above sea level and is characterized by a rural landscape with expansive fields and farms. Agriculture remains a central part of life, with many residents engaged in farming activities, particularly in the cultivation of tomatoes, carrots, and peaches. In fact, Bull Savanna is one of Jamaica’s largest food processing centers for these crops. Despite its role in food production, the town faces infrastructural challenges, as only the Bull Savanna Main Road is consistently paved, while other roads remain in poor condition. Essential community institutions include the Bull Savanna Police Station and Bull Savanna Primary School, which serve the local population.

Geographically, Bull Savanna is located approximately one kilometer from Jamaica’s southern coast, but due to the existing road layout, the actual travel distance to the coast ranges between six to ten kilometers. Neighboring communities include Junction, May Hill, and Top Hill, forming part of a network of settlements within Saint Elizabeth Parish. While Bull Savanna has a strong agricultural base, its rural nature and infrastructure limitations create challenges for modernization and development. Nonetheless, the town continues to play a significant role in Jamaica’s agricultural sector, particularly in food processing and farming.
