The Chief Justice of Jamaica is the person in charge of all the judges and courts in Jamaica. This is the most important judge in the country. They make sure that everyone in court is treated fairly and that the laws of Jamaica are followed. The Chief Justice is chosen by the Governor-General, after talking to the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition. This role has been around since Jamaica became independent in 1962. If there’s a big problem, like someone fighting over who owns a piece of land, the Chief Justice might be involved in making sure the case is handled the right way. They also help make sure the courts are working well and making changes when needed so that everyone can get justice when they need it.
